Worthy of it All

Please add this worship song to your online church sermon, morning devotion, or evening quiet time.
Today’s song is “Worthy of it All ” CeCe Winans

“Make an altar of acacia wood for burning incense.  It is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high its horns of one piece with it.”
Ex 30:1-2 (NIV)

“May my prayer be set before You like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.”
Psalm 141:1-2

“And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts: gold and frankincense and myrrh.”
Matt 2:11 (KJV)

“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Eph 5: 1-2 (NIV)

“Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.”
John 12:3 (NIV)

“The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand.”
Rev 8:4 (NIV)

“And again they shouted  ‘Hallelujah!  The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.’  The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried ‘Amen, Hallelujah!’”
Rev 19:3-4 (NIV)

Today’s song is “Worthy of it All,” composed by David Brymer and Onething, performed by CeCe Winans.

Sometimes we open a Pandora’s box, that is the way that I feel with today’s blog.  I simply wanted to use “Worthy of it All” to give praise and glory to our Father, as a few days ago, I had the opportunity to do so in our morning worship.  How the Holy Spirit settled in the auditorium and our souls when we sang this song.  It never gets old; when we offer our praises to God, and God, in return, shows up through His Holy Spirit and settles in the room and within our hearts.  Maybe this is where I should stop, but…

I started to spin when I started to look up the bible verses for today’s song of praise, as I would find countless discussions that could be initiated from the topic of incense.

Incense in the Old Testament was first mentioned in Exodus 30:1-2 for atonement; in the New Testament, for Jesus as our mediator; and lastly in the Book of Revelation as a promise to God’s people and as an eternal celebration of praise and worship of God’s glory.

The smoke of incense was symbolic of sanctification and purification.  The Magi offered incense to worship Jesus at His birth.  Jesus offered himself a fragrant offering for each of us; for our atonement.  Mary washed Jesus’ feet with Nard oil, which was used as perfume and incense not only to prepare Him for His death but to bring Him devotion, joy, and worship.  Because of Mary’s worship,  “And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume,” the atmosphere of the house was changed: real worship changes the atmosphere.   The sweet aroma of worship signifies reverence and dedication.  In the book of Revelation, God revealed at the time of judgment that He would answer all of the prayers of the His faithful people.
Finally, as prophesied in Rev 19:3-4, today’s song celebrates how we will worship God for eternity through our praise and worship!

Day and night, night and day, may incense arise,
Day and night, night and day, may incense arise,
Day and night, night and day, may incense arise!

In Christ,
Lou-Anne

Worthy of it All
Lyrics

All the saints and angels
They bow before Your throne
All the elders cast their crowns
Before the Lamb of God and sing

You are worthy of it all
You are worthy of it all
For from You are all things
And to You are all things
You deserve the glory

Day and night night and day let incense arise
Day and night night and day let incense arise
Day and night night and day let incense arise
Day and night night and day let incense arise

May we grow together in the love of Christ to reflect upon the mercies and blessings upon our lives, to feel the presence of God’s living Holy Spirit through worship to sing, pray, laugh, dance, cry, but mostly to praise our Lord and Father as we were indeed created2praise.
