When God Ran (God is Good all the Time… -Part Four)

Please add this worship song to your online church sermon, morning devotion, or evening quiet time.
Today’s song is “When God Ran” performed by Phillips Craig & Dean

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone, to his own way”
Isaiah 53:6

“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.  This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.  Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
1 John 4: 9-11 (NIV)

We have all gone astray, every one of us.  That is why Jesus came for our sins.  It has been said that we could not have found Him, so Christ came to find us.  Today’s song “When God Ran,” performed by Philipps Craig & Dean, speaks of God’s Love.

To think that a God with such might, power, and strength, the maker of heaven and earth, could love and seek us out is certainly a mystery.  How could a God that has already given us so much, His very life, come running to us when we wander?  With His deep love for His lost creation, Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, pursues each of us with the desire to make us His own.  He doesn’t have to; He only does because of His love, grace, and mercy towards us.

When we have been wronged and asked for forgiveness, we may respond, “Ok, you have wronged me, you can come to me when you are ready, ask for forgiveness, and I may or may not forgive you depending on how badly I have been hurt.”  This is not how it happens in God’s order.  Not only does Jesus forgive us, love us, hold us, and comfort us each time we wander, but he also runs to us with outstretched arms of love, offering forgiveness, protection and celebration.

Today, please imagine the King of the universe with His arms wrapped around you, giving comfort, love, peace, protection, forgiveness and wholeness.

For now, we can only imagine what this embrace will feel like, but one day, not that long away, we will know the love, warmth, peace, comfort, and protection of our Father’s embrace.  What a day of rejoicing that will be.

God is Good all the time, and all the time, God is Good!

In Christ,
Lou-Anne

When God Ran
Lyrics

Almighty God the great I am
Immovable rock omnipotent powerful
Awesome lord
Victorious warrior commanding king of kings
Mighty conqueror and the only time
The only time I ever saw him run
Was when

He ran to me
He took me in his arms
Held my head to his chest
Said my son’s come home again
Lifted my face
Wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in his voice ge said
Son do you know I still love you

He caught me by surprise when God ran

The day I left home
I knew I’d broken his heart
And I wondered then if things could ever be the same
Then one night
I remembered his love for me
And down that dusty road ahead I could see
It was the only time
It was the only time I ever saw him run
And then

He caught me by surprise
And he brought me to my knees
When God ran I saw him run to me

I was so ashamed all alone and so far away
But now I know that he’s been waiting for this day

I saw him run to me
He took me in his arms
Held my head to his chest
Said my son’s come home again
Lifted my face
Wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in his voice
I felt his love for me again
He ran to me
He took me in his arms
Held my head to his chest
Said my son’s come home again
Lifted my face
Wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in his voice

He said son
He called me son
He said son do you know I still love you
He ran to me (When God ran)
(I saw him run to me)
And then I ran to him
(When God ran)
When God ran

May we grow together in the love of Christ to reflect upon the mercies and blessings upon our lives, to feel the presence of God’s living Holy Spirit through worship to sing, pray, laugh, dance, cry, but mostly to praise our Lord and Father as we were indeed created2praise.
