Today’s song is “Blessed Assurance” by CAIN, David Leonard.
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11: 28 (NIV)
“You make known to Me the path of life; you will fill Me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
Psalms 16:11 (NIV)
“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”
1 Peter 1:8-9 (NIV)
Today’s song, “Blessed Assurance” by CAIN, David Leonard, is what you get when a classic hymn meets a 6/8 groove.
This is Fun!
It is not a rushed, “spit-the-words-out” rendition, but a raw, soulful performance. It is deliberate in its message of an opportunity for praise and a powerful personal testimony of God’s love, through His sought, bought and paid-in-full redemption, salvation, and glory.
This floor-stomping, hand-clapping, can’t-stop-your-body-from-moving, don’t-want-to-miss-a-beat modern-day meets classic hymn allows us not only to hear, sing, and give testimony, but, most importantly, to encounter the Holy Spirit, alive, well, and stirring. I think it’s safe to say that if we didn’t think we had a testimony before the song began, we cannot help but, by the song’s end, agree on the Goodness of our God and, as we look back on pivotal times in our lives, see how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit directed us, kept us safe, and put people in our lives to lead, direct, and take care of us.
Why not take a moment now to reflect on how God has guided and protected you countless times in your life’s journey? I know He has in my life experiences, and I am so grateful for each one of those times of grace.
We are not only singing and declaring the words our mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, great-grandmothers, and great-grandfathers sang and declared, but we are now joining in unison to declare our status as conquerors and heirs of salvation, purchased, born, and washed in His Blood.
Interesting. In a world that celebrates “self-reliance,” “Blessed Assurance” celebrates “perfect submission.” It does not take long to recognize the outcome of “self-reliance,” namely a lost, broken, sinful, and lonely man. In contrast, the outcome of submission is joy, blessing, rest, love, peace, glory, and so much more.
Today, I invite you to join in the celebration of this song, but most importantly, if you are searching for something this world has not offered, please know you have a Creator, a Father who knew you before time. As you seek Him, He is waiting for you right now, too. He hears your cry. You can be His, and He can be yours today. He is ready to accept you into His great Kingdom as an heir, as a son or daughter, with the promise of Glory Divine!
Give Him a try. He will never disappoint or let you down. This is my testimony, and it can be yours too!
Let’s pray today:
Heavenly Father, we thank You that we have a Blessed Assurance when we find Jesus. We thank You for the precious blood of the Lamb that has sought us, bought us, and paid the price for our purchase. We thank You for the Spirit who lives in us, operates through us, and dwells among us. We thank You for the overwhelming joy and peace we experience in Your presence. We thank You for a “foretaste of Your Glory.”
Father God, for anyone reading this who feels weary, lonely, or rejected, please let them find rest in Your arms through submission. We thank You that You are good all the time and that You are always close by. At the name of Jesus, You hear our cry and find us. Today, may we be filled with Your goodness and lost in Your love. Continue to give us Your strength to sing of Your story and to witness of Your healing, forgiveness, and love, to our families, friends, communities, and Nations.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
In Christ,
Lou-Anne

Highlights
Blessed Assurance
Jesus is mine
O what a foretaste of glory divine
Heir of salvation
The purchase of God
Born of His spirit
Washed in His Blood
This is my story
This is my song
I’m praising my Savior
All the day long
This is my story
I’ll testify
That God is good
All the time
He saw me
And heard my cry
Now, I am His
He healed my body
He touched my mind
He′ll save you right on time
May we grow together in the love of Christ to reflect upon the mercies and blessings upon our lives, to feel the presence of God’s living Holy Spirit through worship to sing, pray, laugh, dance, cry, but mostly to praise our Lord and Father as we were indeed created2praise.
