The Hope of Christmas

Please add this worship song to your online church sermon, morning devotion, or evening quiet time.
Today’s song is “The Hope of Christmas” performed by Matthew West

“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness.
John 12:46 (NIV)

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth”
Ephesians 5:8-9 (NIV)

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 (NIV)

I believe today’s song, “The Hope of Christmas,” performed by Matthew West, will strike a chord for many of us, as it reminds us of our innocence and the magical moments of Christmas when we were young.  Our childhood was a wonderful time for many of us as we would celebrate the season with family get-togethers, Christmas pageants, carolling, sleigh rides, movie nights with popcorn, sleepovers at our grandparents, hockey on the pond, and walks in the snow.

Today our world looks less innocent, as our eyes have been opened to the injustices in our world.  We try to make sense of the greed, manipulation, and hypocrisy in some while we watch on as others struggle for the basic needs of life, such as food, clothing, and shelter.

Although we have our battles, struggles, and concerns today, we desire to find Christ this Christmas season; we invite the Holy Spirit to dwell within us and that we are stirred to serve as Christ’s hands and feet to a struggling and hurting world around us.  May our eyes be open to the needs around us, may our hands be willing to serve without reserve, may our feet be ready to walk the extra mile for those in need, and may our hearts be filled with the love of Christ that we show and share His love in every opportunity that we have.  We are thankful that Christ is a light to direct our path, and with thanksgiving in our hearts, may we shine Christ’s light on those around us.  We will always give Christ all the honour, glory, and blessing, for He alone is the Light of the World.

Let us take a private moment to thank our heavenly Father this Christmas season for our families, moms, dads, husbands, wives, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends, loved ones and most importantly, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer.

In Christ,
Lou-Anne

When Love was Born
Lyrics

Starlight shines, the night is still
Shepherds watch from a hill
I close my eyes, see the night
When love was born

Perfect child gently waits
A mother bends to kiss God’s face
I close my eyes, see the night
When love was born

Angels fill the midnight sky, they sing
Hallelujah, He is Christ, our King

Emmanuel, Prince of peace
Loves come down for you and me
Heaven’s gift, the holy spark
To let the way inside our hearts

Bethlehem, through your small door
Came the hope we’ve waited for
The world was changed forevermore
When love was born

I close my eyes, see the night
When love was born

May we grow together in the love of Christ to reflect upon the mercies and blessings upon our lives, to feel the presence of God’s living Holy Spirit through worship to sing, pray, laugh, dance, cry, but mostly to praise our Lord and Father as we were indeed created2praise.
