Who am I

Please add this worship song to your online church sermon, morning devotion, or evening quiet time.
Today’s song is “Who am I” performed by Casting Crowns

“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”
Gal 6:14 (NIV)

“Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”
1 Cor 8:6 (NIV)

Not because of who I am but because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are

When we stop and think, this statement from “Who am I,” performed by Casting Crowns, sums up everything about us.  Everything we have to show for our lives, what we can offer, regardless if we are rich or poor, tall or short, holding power, position, prestige or lowly, peasant, servant, orphaned, widowed, strong or weak, red, yellow, black, or white, it is about Jesus, it is about what He has done for us, it is about who He is.  Our minds and intellect, our bodies with physical abilities, our senses of sight, sound, smell, and taste, the ability to stand up and stretch in the morning, the protection that we had during our sleep, the very air that we breathe, the loved ones placed in our lives.

Not because of who I am but because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are

Now when we stop and realize that He cares about us intimately, like a loving father but a gazillion times more.  He hears us when we cry, He feels our pains, and He works for our good at all times and in all circumstances; how can we not want to give all praise, glory and honour to the King of kings, Lord of lord, and the Great I Am.

Hallelujah, He was, His is, and He will forever be the great I Am.

In Christ,
Lou-Anne

Who am I
Lyrics

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name, would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way for my ever wandering heart?

Not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are

Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again?
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain and calm the storm in me?

I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean (ocean), a vapor in the wind
Still, You hear me when I’m calling, Lord, You catch me when I’m falling
You’ve told me who I am (I am)
I am Yours

I am Yours, I am Yours, oh

Whom shall I fear? Whom shall I fear?
‘Cause I am Yours, I am Yours

May we grow together in the love of Christ to reflect upon the mercies and blessings upon our lives, to feel the presence of God’s living Holy Spirit through worship to sing, pray, laugh, dance, cry, but mostly to praise our Lord and Father as we were indeed created2praise.
