Today’s song is “Light Has Come” by Voices of Grace Music
Light Has Come
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you, and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
Isaiah 60: 1-3 (NIV)
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father but by Me.” John 14:6
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5: 14-16 (NIV)
Today’s song of praise and worship is “Light Has Come,” performed by Voices of Grace Music.
Imagine for a moment the overwhelming darkness we would face if Jesus had not come to Earth over 2,000 years ago. We read that “Christ is the Light of the World.” We accept the mandate that we are to be “the Light of Christ,” but do we truly think about what our lives might look like if we had no escape from Satan’s grip, eternally separated from our Father and Creator? Or, what our lives would be like if Christ had not entered time and space as the “Light of the World,” so that we might indeed reflect Christ’s light to those around us?
Before Jesus arrived, the world was steeped in spiritual darkness. Humanity’s moral condition was characterized by genuine evil, including practices such as sexual perversion, idol worship, and child sacrifice. Societies were marked by slavery and systemic oppression. Without Jesus’ sacrifice, the only outcome for mankind could be eternal separation: complete isolation and condemnation. Christ’s breakthrough into our darkness brought freedoms and hope never imagined.
With His arrival and sacrifice, Christ would offer:
Removal of the weight of sin
Forgiveness from sin, bondage, and death
Grace for our sinful natures
Adoption into the Family of God, making us joint heirs
The eternal promise of life everlasting
Jesus transcended both time and space as both fully man and fully God. He declared Himself to be the “Light of the World.”
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12.
Christ made it clear that He does not just bring light, but that He IS the Light. His presence illuminated God’s truth, character, and redemptive plan in a way the world had never seen. Jesus fulfilled centuries of prophecy, demonstrating God’s love through action, healing, teaching, and sacrifice.
In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus calls His followers to be “the light of the world.” How can humanity possibly fulfill this mandate? The answer is, we cannot on our own. It would be entirely impossible if Jesus had not first offered His own life for our salvation, followed by the Holy Spirit as our guide and helper.
Now, with the Holy Spirit, the impossible becomes possible. Yes, although Christians are not the source of the light themselves, we are called to reflect the brilliance of Christ to others. The light that shines through us is Christ’s Light, demonstrated through our good deeds, love, and faithful witness towards others.
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” Ephesians 5:8
Our transformation makes us beacons in a dark world.
But how can we distinguish ourselves, and how can we effectively serve as Christ’s light?
We set ourselves apart from the world not through superior righteousness, but rather through transformation.
We can show kindness and compassion to everyone we meet, which helps others see God’s love and brings glory to Him.
We should strive to:
Live a life of purity and righteousness, separate from the ways of sin, and demonstrate the holiness of God.
Share the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with clarity and compassion, so that God’s truth stands out to those around us.
Show radical kindness and compassion to everyone we meet, allowing others to witness the tangible love of God and, in turn, bringing glory to our Father in heaven.
I challenge myself and each of you who read this message today to look for intentional ways to demonstrate Christ through your actions this season. Whether through generosity, forgiveness, or testimony, let us share the Good News of Jesus Christ and let His light shine brightly through you.
I hope that as you reflect on the profound act of Jesus Christ coming to earth to reveal the Love of God, you find yourself drawn into a deeper relationship with Him. If this is your first encounter with Christ, be encouraged to follow the path toward God. He is calling your name at this very moment. If you choose Christ, you will undoubtedly be transformed and empowered to follow Him fully, out of darkness and into His marvellous light.
In Christ,
Lou-Anne

Light Has Come
Lyric Highlights
“Light has come. The darkness trembles.
Christ our Savior, God of mercy.
Lift your eyes, behold His glory.
Jesus Christ the newborn King.
Light has come forever shining.
Hope of heaven here with us.”
“Glory in the highest let all nations
Sing honor to the holy child Jesus
Christ our king.
Glory in the highest.
Heaven shouts His name. Jesus.
Jesus reigns.”
May we grow together in the love of Christ to reflect upon the mercies and blessings upon our lives, to feel the presence of God’s living Holy Spirit through worship to sing, pray, laugh, dance, cry, but mostly to praise our Lord and Father as we were indeed created2praise.
