Please add this worship song to your online church sermon, morning devotion, or evening quiet time.
Today’s song is “I Know a Name” performed by Brandon Lakes and Phil Wickham
“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:9-11
“Where, O death, is our victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God? He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15: 55-58
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17

“I know a Name” by Brandon Lakes is the inspiration of this post. I hope this video encourages you to reflect on the many messages within its title, lyrics, and setting.
I could base this post entirely on the amazing fact that revivals are happening across nations and around our globe; young people are finding Jesus, turning their lives around, and becoming passionate advocates for their Redeemer and Lord; The sight of a new generation unashamedly bringing the message of Jesus back to a lost, hurting, fallen world is truly inspiring.
Alternatively, this post could center on the presence of the Holy Spirit, whether in large gatherings, arenas, or the quiet solitude of your room. How we long for this encounter and presence of the Holy Spirit.
While these are all great discussions, the core focus today is found in the title of this song, “I know a Name.”
Let’s talk about this name, the name of Jesus. It is a name that can silence the roaring waves, empty a grave, heal, and ultimately save. His beautiful name is Jesus.
Jesus went to the cross and defeated death for you. He offers eternal life so you would never die. But a “get out of Hell” card is not all that He wants for you.
Jesus wants to:
Enrich your life in every way possible
Be your Healer
Be a part of every moment of your life, to laugh with you, cry with you, and comfort you
Be your Best Friend
Satan, on the other hand, comes to kill, steal, and destroy. But we get to ruin his day and thwart his plans of death and destruction if we speak Jesus over his evil. Although it may sometimes seem that he is winning, he is ultimately defeated every time by the name above all names, Jesus.
The powerful lyrics of “I know a Name” emphasize this victory:
“Every time I call Your name
Chains break, dry bones wake.
Every time I call Your name
The gates of Hell shake.
Every time I call Your name”
We are given this authority to speak Christ over the “dead things” in our lives and the world around us, calling them back to life:
Today we can speak:
Christ over our families and friends (“Dead things come alive”)
Christ over our emotional, physical, and spiritual health (“Dead things come alive”)
Christ over our communities (“Dead things come alive”)
Christ over our finances (“Dead things come alive”)
Christ over our Nation (“Dead things come alive!!!”)
Today can be the day that you:
Find your hope and freedom in the name of Jesus.
Find your breakthrough in the name of Jesus.
Find your victory in the name of Jesus.
Jesus is forever Worthy of our Honour, Glory, and Praise!
In Christ,
Lou-Anne
