Come as You are

Please add this worship song to your online church sermon, morning devotion, or evening quiet time.
Today’s song is “Come as You Are” by David Crowder

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

“Come as You Are” performed by David Crowder

Today’s featured song is “Come as You Are” performed by David Crowder, songwriters David Crowder, Matt Maher, and Ben Glover.

Are you broken-hearted, searching, wandering, and feeling utterly alone?

Perhaps today you feel there is nowhere left to turn, that no one understands the depth of your pain, or that you are unlovable and most certainly beyond redemption. If you are tired, or struggling to find a path forward, wondering if life holds anything more than suffering, confusion, and rejection, know this: there is someone who can take your pain away, and His name is Jesus.

Jesus alone offers rest, hope, light, salvation, and eternal life. He alone offers to love you unconditionally, for exactly who you are.

Whether you have never met Him or have wandered away and completely lost, we are all in need of a Saviour. Let’s be honest, we are all human-we easily wander off track, follow the wrong crowds, and often end up lost in a wilderness of guilt, shame, confusion, depression, and loneliness.

Isaiah 53:6 tells us, “All of us like sheep have gone astray, We have turned, each one, to his own way; But the LORD has caused the wickedness of us all [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing] To fall on Him [instead of us].” (Amp)

The story of the Prodigal Son, found in Luke 15:11-32, beautifully captures God’s relentless love. A son takes his inheritance and leaves home, only to squander it all on a reckless life. He hits rock bottom, living among and eating with the pigs, completely broken without hope for a future.

When he finally decides to return home, expecting judgment and rejection, something unexpected happens: His father sees him from a distance and runs to him, embracing him without a single word of condemnation, judgment, or ridicule. The son’s good and loving Father throws a celebration, restores his dignity, and welcomes him back into the family.

This story parallels each of us. No matter how much we have messed up our lives, how far we have fallen, or what our circumstances are, our God and Creator is patiently waiting for our return. He is ready to forgive, heal and restore.

Our Father invites each of us to come exactly as we are—with all our worries, burdens, brokenness, guilt, shame and pain.

Jesus, God’s only son, died on the cross so that we could be free from any bondage we find ourselves in. He did this because of His love for you, because He wants a relationship with you. He wants to call each of us his precious son or daughter, and the best part of all is that when we believe in Him, repent of our sins, and acknowledge Him as our Lord, we are promised eternal life, yes, it is that simple.

John 3:16 summarizes God’s boundless love:
“For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him might have eternal life.”

Today, why not come as you are and lay your burdens, fears and shame at the foot of the cross?

Isaiah 61:3 God promises to exchange you:
Beauty for your ashes
Oil of Joy for your mourning
Garments of praise for your spirit of heaviness

God promises to give:
Hope for the hopeless
Rest for the weary
Freedom from chains
Strength for weakness
Joy for grieving

No sin is too great, no trouble is too deep, and no brokenness is beyond His healing power. His love conquers all.
Earth (Each of us) has no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal. Come as you are!
Thanks be to God!

In Christ,
Lou-Anne

Come as You Are
Lyrics

Come out of sadness
From wherever you’ve been
Come broken hearted
Let rescue begin
Come find your mercy
Oh, sinner come kneel
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh, wanderer come home
You’re not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are

There’s hope for the hopeless
And all those who’ve strayed
Come sit at the table
Come taste the grace
There’s rest for the weary
Rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t cure

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh, wanderer come home
You’re not too far
Lay down your hurt lay down your heart

Come as you are
Come as you are
Fall in his arms
Come as you are

There’s joy for the mourning
Oh, sinner be still
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can’t heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh, wanderer come home
You’re not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart

Come as you are
Come as you are
Come as you are
Come as you are

May we grow together in the love of Christ to reflect upon the mercies and blessings upon our lives, to feel the presence of God’s living Holy Spirit through worship to sing, pray, laugh, dance, cry, but mostly to praise our Lord and Father as we were indeed created2praise.
